Glenda McElroy Named Dressage Manager for 2010 Alltech World Equestrian Games
(USA) - The Colorado Horse Park is pleased to announce that Glenda McElroy has been named the dressage competition manager at the 2010 Alltech FEI World Equestrian Games (WEG) to be held in Lexington, Kentucky at the Kentucky Horse Park. The WEG serves as the World Championships for seven international equestrian sports, including reining, jumping, eventing, combined driving, endurance, vaulting and dressage as well as the para-equestrian events. McElroy manages Dressage in the Rockies and High Prairie Dressage for The Colorado Horse Park. These prestigious competitions feature more than $12,000 in prize money and awards, making them among the largest dressage shows in the Western half of the United States. The WEG is not the first important international competition that McElroy has managed. She has twice served as the manager of the FEI World Cup Dressage Finals as well as the USEF National Grand Prix Freestyle Championships, among others.

FEI Update of Amy Tryon Case
The FEI has now received the official reports and video footage regarding the case of alleged abuse involving rider Amy Tryon (USA) and horse Le Samurai which occurred on 28 April 2007 at CCI 4* Lexington. The FEI has notified Ms Tryon through the USEF of her right to be heard before a panel of the FEI Tribunal, which has been constituted to address the matter after it was referred to the Tribunal by the FEI Secretary General further to the applicable rules. Ms Tryon's response and that of the Tribunal panel will determine whether and when a hearing will be scheduled.

(Estoril, Portugal) - The 2007 FEI General Assembly marked a new era for athletes and their representation at the FEI. The first FEI Athletes Committee, nominated by the FEI President and elected at the General Assembly, is composed of eight members, all active athletes, each representing one of the FEI disciplines. The Athletes Committee will act as a consultative body and as a link between the active Athletes and the FEI. It ensures that the Athletes’ points of view are taken into account in FEI decisions and furthermore that the rights of the athletes are respected.

Anti-Doping and Medication Control: Reducing the Risks of Positive Drug Tests in Competition Horses and Testing Overview
The year 2006 was a most productive year for the Federation Equestre Internationale (FEI) with regard to testing, in terms of numbers of horses tested as well as the number of events covered. In total, the FEI tested 3173 horses: 2097 in the Medication Control Programme (Groups I and II) and 1076 outside of the MCP, which is superior to anything done so far. In ten years, the number of tests has doubled: there were 1,500 tests conducted in 1996.

It must be said that up until now, youth was seen as a rather ill-defined territory, as it is affected by all the different disciplines. Due to EHV-1 Virus Outbreak Health Certification Protocol Established for USEF Licensed Shows in Florida
(USA) - In response to the recent EHV-1 virus outbreak in Florida, and in the best interest of horses, USEF members and competition organizers, the USEF has approved the implementation of precautionary health restrictions for entry into show grounds holding USEF licensed competitions in the State of Florida. USET Foundation Awards $2 Million to USEF for High Performance Programs
(Gladstone, NJ, USA) - The United States Equestrian Team (USET) Foundation awarded a $2 million grant to the United States Equestrian Federation (USEF) in November 2006 in support of the organization’s eight High Performance programs. The High Performance disciplines are dressage, driving, endurance, eventing, reining, para-equestrian, show jumping, and vaulting. USET Foundation funding provided support, in whole or in part, for High Performance athletes to participate in both national and international events in 2006. The USET Foundation was able to provide the $2 million grant to USEF through its fundraising efforts and the generous donations of contributors nationwide.
