(Mannheim, Germany) - Meredith Michaels-Beerbaum (GER) and Shutterfly were simply the best today during the individual final of the 2007 FEI European Jumping Championship and, without a single bar down throughout the four competition days, win the gold on a total score of 1.54. The silver medal goes to Belgium’s Jos Lansink and his gentleman of a stallion Al-Kaheel Cavalor Cumano. Just like Meredith and Shutterfly, they did not make a single fence fall but because of a slower time after the first day speed competition and one time penalty picked up in today’s second round, they finish on 3.42. The bronze goes to Meredith’s team mate Ludger Beerbaum and his 16-year veteran stallion Goldfever (5.11). The prize money awarded to the winners is EUR 50,000; EUR 30,000; EUR 20,000 respectively.

(Mannheim, Germany) - At the end of an afternoon full of excitement and drama, the team gold of the 2007 FEI European Jumping Championship goes to The Netherlands, who have one more title to add to their world gold conquered in Aachen last year. It was the second round of the Nations Cup which was run on the same course as the first round except that fences 4, 5, 6b, 7, 11, 12a, 12c and 13 had been raised by 2 to 5cm and widened up to 10cm. With three clear rounds from Vincent Voorn on Audi’s Alpapillon-Armanie; Jeroen Dubbeldam on BMC Up and Down; and Albert Zoer on Okidoki – fourth team Gerco Schröder on Eurocommerce Berlin had two bars down – the Dutch team finish on their score from the first day (7.37).

(Mannheim, Germany) - The second of the 2007 FEI European Jumping Championship at Mannheim was certainly an exciting one. It was the day of the first round of the Nations Cup in which took part all riders and horses who had participated in yesterday’s speed competition. Eighteen teams fought all they could to secure a place in the top ten as only the ten best teams will continue tomorrow in the second round of the Nations Cup.

(Mannheim, Germany) - While the sun shone with all its might in the Mannheim sky, the arena, where action of the 2007 FEI European Jumping Championship began today, was no less bright. Indeed, Christa Jung, the first woman to design a European Championship course, had filled it with dazzling reds and blues to go with the gigantic yellow sunflowers decorating fence 7 set in the middle of the arena.

The History of the FEI European Jumping Championships

| Leaving her mark on the history of the FEI European Jumping Championships, Alexandra Ledermann (FRA) becomes the first woman to win individual gold at Hickstead in 1999 |
T’was the year 1957 and the first of many European Jumping Championships was staged in the town of Rotterdam. While it was decided, on that occasion, that the very popular change of horse final formula would be applied, it soon became very clear that this would be a point of debate for many years to come. Indeed, many formulas, tested and tried, loved and despised, have been unleashed on the FEI European Championships during the past 50 years. However, after many trials and tribulations, it was the International Jumping Riders club that came up in 1979 with the present formula...
