(England) - Douglas Bunn, founder and owner of The All England Jumping Course, Hickstead, died peacefully in his sleep at home on Tuesday night, 16 June 2009, surrounded by his family. He was 81 years old, and had been ill for only a short time.

Further to a request made by a majority of the FEI Bureau members, the FEI Headquarters today filed a protest with the FEI Tribunal on the basis of widely reported admissions by Marco Kutscher and Björn Nolting concerning the undeclared treatment given to Marco Kutscher’s horse, Cornet Obolensky, at the 2008 Olympic Games, and the circumstances surrounding this treatment including the collapse of the horse which subsequently took part in competition.

FEI Clean Sport Commission Update
(Lausanne, Switzerland) - The Commission chaired by Prof. Arne Ljungqvist, Chair of the IOC Medical Commission and World Anti Doping Agency Vice President, has presented its recommendations to the FEI Bureau, which agreed in principle to the Commission’s recommendations and further agreed to the creation of several smaller Working Groups to carry the work forward. FEI Clean Sport Commission: Focus Groups Hold Meetings in Lausanne
(Lausanne, Switzerland) - The focus groups formed by FEI Anti Doping and Medication Commission members, selected experts and FEI staff have begun their work. Four working groups were created: Lab Group; Legal Group; List Group; and Communications and Education Group. Two Month Suspension For Jessica Kurten
Following the decision of the FEI Tribunal in the positive medication case involving the horse Castle Forbes Maike ridden at CSIO 5* La Baule in May 2007, the person responsible - Jessica Kürten of Ireland – filed an appeal with the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) on 5 June 2008. The CAS has ruled that the request for a stay had to be dismissed, and Jessica Kürten is therefore suspended for two months, starting from 7 June to 6 August.

The FEI Tribunal has issued its decision in the case involving Jessica Kürten at last year’s CSIO 5* in La Baule (FRA), 10-13 May 2007, resulting in a two-month suspension for the athlete. Mrs. Kürten, who had placed first on Castle Forbes Maike, subsequently was the subject of a medication control violation when her mount tested positive to a prohibited substance. The substance, Etoricoxib, is a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory classified by the FEI as medication prohibited in competition.
