European Equestrian Federation Formed
(Warendorf, Germany) - International horse sport has a new European association, the European Equestrian Federation (EEF). The new body was established today (18th February) by 27 European National Federations present at a meeting in Warendorf (Germany). This process commenced at a meeting of European National Federations in Deauville (France) in March 2009 and was agreed in principle in Antwerp (Belgium) in September 2009. The Federation was officially formed today (18th February 2010), following the signing of the Statutes by National Federations. It is anticipated that other European Federations and other representative groups, who could not be present at the meeting, will also adopt the new Statutes.

FEI Round Table Conference Resolves Rollkur Controversy

Following constructive debate at the FEI round-table conference at the IOC Headquarters in Lausanne today (9 February), the consensus of the group was that any head and neck position achieved through aggressive force is not acceptable. The group redefined hyperflexion/Rollkur as flexion of the horse’s neck achieved through aggressive force, which is therefore unacceptable. The technique known as Low, Deep and Round (LDR), which achieves flexion without undue force, is acceptable.

FEI Sets Up A Fund For Haiti
In response to the tragic earthquake, which rocked Haiti last month, the FEI is inviting the equestrian community to gather financial support. Funds collected will be sent to the International Olympic Committee (IOC) and the Pan American Sports Organization (PASO) to assist both organisations in their efforts towards the rebuilding of the sports movement and local sports installations in Haiti once local conditions permit. FEI Executive Board Reinstated
(Switzerland) - The FEI President HRH Princess Haya has called on the FEI Executive Board to take a more active role in key matters facing equestrian sport in 2010. Following its first meeting of the year, which took place via conference call yesterday (12 January), the FEI Bureau has today approved the President’s proposal, naming Chairman of Geographical Group II Hanfried Haring (GER) and Chairman of Geographical Group VI Pablo Mayorga (ARG) to the Executive Board, in addition to 1st Vice President Sven Holmberg (SWE) and 2nd Vice President Chris Hodson (NZL).

The FEI has announced today (1 December) that the FEI Bureau has passed a Resolution delaying implementation of the new Equine Prohibited Substances List and the accompanying Equine Anti-Doping and Controlled Medication Regulations until 5 April 2010. Iron Spring Farm's Rampal Passes On
(Coatesville, PA) - Iron Spring Farm's important KWPN stallion Rampal passed away last week, November 11, 2009 due to the infirmities of old age. The 26-year-old stallion was known not only for his incredible competition record, which included being short listed for the United States Equestrian Team, but also for his contributions to the sport horse world as a sire. His offspring have been competitive through the international levels of both show jumping and dressage. His son Ovation ISF won at such shows as CSIO Rome with World Cup Finals winner Marcus Fuchs in the saddle.

FEI Extraordinary General Assembly Votes Against New Statutes
(Copenhagen, Denmark) - Today the FEI Extraordinary General Assembly voted against the adoption of new Statutes for the restructuring of the FEI Bureau, the current governing body. A hundred and two (102) National Federations were represented, 85 in person and 17 by proxy. Out of 98 valid votes cast, there were 49 against, 48 in favor and one abstention.

Further to a request made by a majority of the FEI Bureau members, the FEI Headquarters today filed a protest with the FEI Tribunal on the basis of widely reported admissions by Marco Kutscher and Björn Nolting concerning the undeclared treatment given to Marco Kutscher’s horse, Cornet Obolensky, at the 2008 Olympic Games, and the circumstances surrounding this treatment including the collapse of the horse which subsequently took part in competition.
