Badminton 2008: Nicolas Touzaint Claims First-Ever French Win

French phenomenon Nicolas Touzaint became the first Frenchman ever to win The Mitsubishi Motors Badminton Horse Trials today. Tears of both relief and disbelief flowed down his face as he and Hildago De L’Ile performed several fast victory laps and the French National Anthem was played in the arena for the first time.

Thousands of spectators lined the strings of the course, holding their breath as each obstacle was attempted. The dressage leader board was blown to pieces as one after the other of the top combinations literally fell by the wayside. At Badminton, anything can happen…and it did.

Badminton 2008: Hoy Retains Lead After Dressage Phase

(Gloucestershire, England) - At the conclusion of two days of top class dressage at the Mitsubishi Motors Badminton Horse Trials, Andrew Hoy and Moonfleet have retained the lead they set earlier in the day of 35.4 penalties. The British based Australian is now on course for his second win with Susan Magnier’s Thoroughbred by Strong Gale who is back on form after a year out of action for an operation to improve his breathing.

(England) - At the midday break of the final day of dressage it’s all change at the top of the leaderboard at The Mitsubishi Motors Badminton Horse Trials. 2006 winners Andrew Hoy (AUS) and Susan Magnier’s Irish Thoroughbred Moonfleet (no. 76) moved ahead of the early morning leaders Ruth Edge and Muschamp Impala.
