Equine Canada Announces New Measures for Clean Sport
(Canada) - The Equine Canada Medication Control Committee (EMCC) has announced new measures to deter abuse and overuse of drugs and medication in horses, to provide fairness to all participants, to protect the safety of competitors, to maintain the health and welfare of the horse and promote fair competitions.

This Week in USEF High Performance
(USA) - Dressage: Dressage riders on the West Coast battled it out this weekend at the Mid-Winter CDI3* held at the Los Angeles Equestrian Center. Jan Ebeling and Rafalca were impressive in both the Grand Prix and Grand Prix Freestyle, easily taking home top honors. The pair was the only one to top 70% with a freestyle score of 71.800%. Canadian Sharon Merkel-Beattie and Essence of Glory were first in the Grand Prix Special with a score of 64.042; Adrienne Lyle and Wizard were second.

Deadline Extended for USEF’s New Varsity Lettering Program for High School Equestrians
(USA) - You don’t have to be a record-setting quarterback, point guard or track star to letter in high school sports anymore. The United States Equestrian Federation (USEF) is writing a new chapter in the recognition of high school sports — one that honors Equestrian athletes. The USEF’s High School Equestrian Athlete program will offer specially designed emblems and pins, exclusively for equestrian athletes in grades 9-12.

2010 FTI Winter Equestrian Festival Announces Partnership with Show Net LLC

Riddle Master, the eight-year-old Canadian Sport Horse gelding, owned by Caroline Bazley was the top placed Canadian horse in the CCI 3* Dansko Fair Hill International Three Day Event held October 15–18, 2009, in Elkon, MD, USA.

(Canada) - Jump Canada has named Yann Candele the CAVALOR 'Athlete of the Month' for August. Candele of Caledon, ON, won the $100,000 Summer Festival Grand Prix on Sunday, August 9, at the CSI2* Summer Festival held at the Caledon Equestrian Park in Palgrave, ON. From a 24-horse starting field, Candele and Mustique, a 12-year-old chestnut Dutch Warmblood mare owned by Susan Grange, posted the only double clear round to take the victory.

2010 Winter Equestrian Festival Competition Calendar Announced

Import Restrictions Reduced for Horses from Texas and New Mexico Entering Canada due to Vesicular Stomatitis
(Canada) - Equine Canada’s Breeds & Industry Division and Health & Welfare Committee would like to inform all stakeholders that the Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) has eliminated import restrictions for horses from Texas and reduced import restriction for horses New Mexico that are entering Canada as a result of additional information it received from the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) regarding the recent cases of vesicular stomatitis (VS) reported in these states.
